Why is the data definition screen so unbearably slow? I feel like there was a single release early in 10.2 where if performed at a decent pace, but no more.

Not sure I’ve seen the same performance issues.
I’ve seen some environments being very slow and other nice and peppy.
I’m no DBA, but I would offer that your servers may not be well tuned.
