Data Migration from V8.0 to V8.03.305

We had a similar issue it is caused by the Codepage settings of the
database you are upgrading.

You need to convert the DB into utf-8 (Unicode) codepage.

The instructions for this were posted in the list :

Summary: How to convert your database to Unicode
Book: Support Solutions
Page: 6152MPS
PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: I would like to change my database from standard
iso8859-1 to Unicode, How do I do that.

PROBLEM RESOLUTION: Use the Steps below to convert your database to
Unicode.
Prerequisites:

A) You will need a Proword.2 file. This file can be found in your
\Epicor\Mfgsys80\Db\Newdb folder. If one is not there, have Tech Support
email one to you. Put the file into the \Epicor\oelOOb folder
B) WARNING: Before you start either process, have a good backup
of your database.

"%DLC%" is where OpenEdge is installed example E:\epicor\oelOOb

1) Go to Start --> Programs --> OpenEdge 10B --> proenv

2) Type: prompt <enter>

3) Change to the directory where the database exists and run the
following commands in the database while in the database directory.

4) To convert your database, type: proutil mfgsys -C convchar
convert UTF-8

5) Apply the new word-rules to the database, type: proutil mfgsys
-C word-rules 2

6) Next open the properties of the Progress/OpenEdge Data
Adminstration Tool:

Go to: Start --> Programs --> OpenEdge 10B --> Data Administration
tool, right mouse click and select Properties.

You will need to add a -rx switch to the target line of the Data
Administration tool.

example:

E:\epicor\OE100B\bin\prowin32.exe -p

Save the changes.

7) Now bring up the Start --> Programs --> OpenEdge 10B --> Data
Administration tool

Go to: Admin --> Load Data and Definitions --> Data Definitions (.df)

Load the "_tran.df" file located in your \Epicor\OelOOb\Prolang\utf
folder.

8) Finally, rebuild the indexes. Type the command:

proutil mfgsys -C idxbuild -TB 32 -TM 32 -cpinternal UTF-8 Answer "a"
for
ALL from the popup menu

Press "n" to the question: "Do you have enough disk space for index
sorting?"

9) Once the reindex is complete, make sure of the following:

- -> The Proword.2 file is in the \Epicor\OelOOb directory before you
restart.

- -> Verify in the \Epicor\OelOOb\Startup.pf <http://startup.pf/
<http://startup.pf/> > file
the correct code page is entered.

Bottom section of the Startup.pf <http://startup.pf/
<http://startup.pf/> > should look like:

- cpinternal utf-8

-cpstream utf-8

- cpcoll Basic -cpcase Basic -d mdy

-numsep 44

- numdec 46

10) Start the Database, login.

During the second phase it just kicks me out and appears to shut down.

Has anyone done this migration? I've tried to do this according to
white paper provide by Epicor but I still can't get the 'schema change'
to run.
