Joe,
For Vantage 6.1 and lower, the specs are minimum and I used PC's retired
from office use knowing that temperature and conditions are just bad and
they are going to break (funny, my old PC's actually were the
toughest!!). 8.0 demands more in hardware than previous versions. Good
luck.

Subject: [Vantage] Dell PCs for MES/Data Collection
Hello,
We need to purchase PCs to run MES on the shop floor.
I was looking at the Dell Dimension 3100 because it was selling for a
good price and I was able to get the specs that I wanted.
I decided to call Dell to see if I could get some kind of volume
discount and the sales rep started giving this long list of reason why
the Dimensions are not ideal for this use and why I should get the
OptiPlex instead.
Has anyone used Dell PCs for MES/Data Collection? If so, which model did
you use? Is there anything to this sales rep's rant or will I be ok with
Dimensions?
Thanks,
Joe Rojas
