In general, it is normal to run MRP from FG. But my company wants to run MRP in SA.
What I’m curious about is what’s the demand for this SA MRP in this case.
When running FG MRP, the demand is Forecast, but I have never tried running MRP only for SA.
We are creating jobs for FG manually.
Will this FG’s job become the MRP’s demand for these SAs?
Or do I have to put the SA into the Forecast Entry?
Could you give me your insight on this question? Thanks,
@askulte , I believe it is subassembly and raw material.
@pilio.lee , this is a very complicated question that can have multiple answers. I really think your best option is to read the Tech Ref guide for MRP.
As an example, you can set up your MOMs so that the demand from Asm 0 creates a single job with all subassemblies in that job. You could also set up your MOMs to have each subassembly create its own job separate from Asm 0. You could even have all of the demand for subassemblies that are used on multiple Asm 0 create 1 job to supply all of the other jobs.
Unfortunately, there is no one answer to your question as it really depends on your processes and procedures and how you want the system to help support them.
The Tech Ref guide for MRP had a standard process, and no such variant process.
I didn’t find the answer right here, but your insight has been very helpful.
It will take some time, but we will do a variety of tests in the Pilot.
You need to read the whole guide. There are many different fields in the system that control the output of MRP. If you do not understand what all of the fields are and how they impact the output, you will never get MRP to do what you need.
As an example, the fields you need to read up on to split out subassemblies as separate jobs is Pull As Assembly and Plan As Assembly in the Engineering Workbench.
