Hi All,
I have a part we order. It is a quantity of 1 (500 liters of oil). If I wanted to use 23 liters in a part that requires oil. Would I make this a co-part or a new part or is there a better way?
Thanks
My first thought is that you would use 0.046 (from 23/500) of the part number.
If there is a need to keep a 500 liter drum intact (as in it has 500 liters in), then you could make another part number (a manufactured part), that has a IUM of of liters. Then make a job to create 500 liters of the 2nd P/N, using 1 drum of the original P/N. That way you QOH of the originall would always be for full 500 liter packages.
If you wen the first way I described, you’d have an inventory QOH like 0.954 (1 - the 0.046)
You could also have a UOM class of Drum that Contains UOM each and UOM liters that is part specific. Purchasing UOM could then be each and inventory could be Liters.
You could then consume the 23 liters as your IUM of the individual drum would have been 500. If you still want to use EA as the Inventory UOM in engineering work bench under method of manufacturing tab, materials tab, next to Qty/Parent you can change the unit of measure to liters.
Thanks for all the responses!
