I had the same problem. Our error was "Foreign Database Cursor Not Found".
This happens when there are a large number of AP Checks. There is no fix
for this. The only solution Epicor gave me was to print smaller batches.
From what I remember, the error is caused by Vantage referencing the Foreign
languages section of the database and doing it efficiently. Progress will
allow so many errors as the database gets bottlenecked and then you get the
error.

I have been using a Crystal custom AP check that prints the invoice numbers
on both stubs-one for us and one for the vendor. This was working fine until
a large number of checks were set to be printed. A Crystal error came up
(user did not write the error message down) and checks did not print
correctly. Any ideas as to why this happened? Thanks for your help.

Probably due to different print drivers. Are you using the OEM driver, or
the one that comes with windows? I'd try downloading the current driver
from the printer manufacturer and using it. There may also be settings in
the print driver's properties, like "download fonts" or "print fonts at
bitmaps" that you could experiment with.
If you really need to adjust the form, you need Crystal Reports to modify
the layout of Epicor's standard form.

That's outdated info. Prior to Vantage 4, the check print was a Progress
routine. There were some .INI file things you could tweak then.

On our Vantage server (IBM Netfinitiy 5500) the "data" drive is really two
disks mirrored. We also have a warm spare for automatic roll over if either
side of the mirror fails. The RAID controller will build the warm spare
from the "good" side of the mirror set. I can then pop out the hot swapable
failed drive and replace it on the fly to become the new "warm" spare. I
did not mirror the system disk but now think I maybe should have. Also, in
the system are dual power supplies that share the load but either is big
enough to take over on own if one fails. These too are hot swapable.
Finally memory is in multiple modules in case one fails we can limp until
replacement (not hot swapable). Whole system is backed up with Veritas
BackupExec with emergency reload disks.
On topic of tape versus disk backup. I do copy Vantage backup to disk on
another server but nightly DLT tape goes off-site (my house) once a week as
well as nightly tapes going into a fireproof cabinet located in an
underground tunnel. Our auditors demanded off-site storage of backup.

Raid 1 will work fine, but I think RAID 10 is now the preferred
configuration for a Progress Database. Raid 10 is faster and you can add
more drives later but you pay for it. You loose 50% of your drive space to
raid. The only other drawback is that you have to have a RAID card that
supports RAID 10. There are many that do not.

I go to do an upgrade to 5.1 and after talking to Vantage I will need to buy pre-consulting
to prepare for the upgrade and then post consulting to make sure we have it running correctly and that
the new procedures are done correctly.
Five thousand dollars every time I upgrade? (of course this is on top of a $25,000.00 maintenance fee)
Oh you don't have to upgrade but if your down two rev. levels we don't support your software anymore.

On our Vantage server (IBM Netfinitiy 5500) the "data" drive is really two
disks mirrored. We also have a warm spare for automatic roll over if either
side of the mirror fails. The RAID controller will build the warm spare
from the "good" side of the mirror set. I can then pop out the hot swapable
failed drive and replace it on the fly to become the new "warm" spare. I
did not mirror the system disk but now think I maybe should have. Also, in
the system are dual power supplies that share the load but either is big
enough to take over on own if one fails. These too are hot swapable.
Finally memory is in multiple modules in case one fails we can limp until
replacement (not hot swapable). Whole system is backed up with Veritas
BackupExec with emergency reload disks.
On topic of tape versus disk backup. I do copy Vantage backup to disk on
another server but nightly DLT tape goes off-site (my house) once a week as
well as nightly tapes going into a fireproof cabinet located in an
underground tunnel. Our auditors demanded off-site storage of backup.

Okay. Here's my sad story.
When adding a new customer, at the point of selecting an appropriate FOB location (99% of the time, our own city), the S#@$ department would select ADD (!!). Yes they kept adding and using slight variations on the same thing. "RICH HILL"..."Rochester Hills, MI", or some other variation.
I have many, many loaded and of course locked out from deletion because zillions of orders reference one or another.
Is there any way, shape or form that someone has a little ditty that will change them all to one, correctly spelled FOB of my choosing. Ideally I could then delete all the extras.
(Yes I have secured all the little devils out now)

One last thing to think about:
A rapid rollover to a backup server is great, from the server standpoint.
However, from the client standpoint, *every* client in your building will
still be pointed to the old server. Unless you've already configured every
workstation to also point to the training (or backup) server, you'll have to
re-install the client on the workstations.
