Check the set up in the AR Configuration file. It sounds like AR Trade
is used as the account for the AR Clearing account. The AR Clearing
account is used to hold Cost of Sales until the shipment has been
invoice posted. Have a read at the Help of this and I am forwarding to
you the spreadsheet (available from Epicor) that describes the Dr's and
Cr's for this type of transaction.

Sometimes (Not Always) when we create a sales order with the proper
product groups then ship the inventory the cost hits AR Trade instead of
the correct G/L account which is set up in the product group. But then
when we invoice this shipment, the cost moves from AR Trade to the
correct G/L account. Does anyone know what causes this?
I am truly stumped.

Subject: 6.10 - Cycle counts with serial numbered parts - UPDATE
I think I left a post several weeks ago asking about problems Vantage
6.10 has dealing with serial numbers during cycle counts. On Friday,
I received a reply from Vantage Support that confirmed that the cycle
count process does not prompt for serial numbers, creating problems if
there is a quantity change for serial items during the cycle count.
We actually relocated a serial numbered part during a cycle count.
All of the serial numbers were orphaned and the inventory could not be
moved because they did not have serial numbers.
If this is an issue for you, there are two Enhancement Requests that
are active: 11507MPS & 10769MPS. The first is to add the serial
number functionality and the second is to add the serial number to the
count tags (we recreated our count tags, but it is a related issue and
definitely should be part of the tag).
Also, can anyone on 8.0 confirm that this is not a problem in that
revision?

Right now we are usng MS-Access database for our labour details, but

We are not ready right now to stop use of MS- Access database, so we

enter the entries.
We do not see all the fields in vantage wht we enter right now in

Is it possible to call a particular record via vb form in the labour

then display access form with details for particular empid and job num.

It happens on my Terminal Server as well as my Vantage server. If I
launch

a
local copy of the vantage files but to the live copy of the database, I
dont get
the error. This has me thinking that there is a problem with the files
on my

I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this. An example would be
the
Open Purchase Order report. I'm going to try the normal stuff fix stuff
tonight, like rebooting the server, reapplying the patch .526. ect.
Thanks

Awhile back our president saw a Blackberry and wanted a proposal to set

the server software (to connect to Exchange) plus the devices and
wireless service costs he put it on hold. Especially since the cost per
user for only 2-3 users is pretty high when the server costs are spread
out.
Now he has seen Verizon's email options that run on the desktop and push
messages out to the phone. The downside is they require the mobile user
to leave their laptop running on their desk -or- setup a dedicated
email client PC to login as them and push the messages out while they
are gone. The upside is no server or server software to connect to
Exchange.
Another option seems to be Mobile Windows with ActiveSynch and Mobile
Outlook but I am unclear about the connection technique, wireless
services required (internet?) and modem type device(s).
All he wants is message text - no attachments or graphics.
Any opinions out there about the best method to allow 2-3 people access

If you have an Exchange Server and are also using Outlook Web Access you
can connect these devices w/o using the expensive server side software
or desktop client. It depends on your carrier. If you use T-Mobile and
I think Verizon you can enter the url (on one of the setup screens) for
your OWA and it will automatically send email to the device. AT&T did
not allow this capability. Or at least, we couldn't figure out how to
make it work w/o the add on software.
So for us the cost was zero to set up.

Any opinions out there about the best method to allow 2-3 people access
to their Exchange based email via their cellphone? For your favorite
method what is needed to make it happen? Rough idea of the cost?
Thanks,

Subject: Recent 6.1 conversions BEWARE in quoting
Here is a potentially nasty little gotcha we discovered after converting
from 5.1 to 6.1 a couple weeks ago.
If you open a quote that existed before the upgrade and change the
material price in a material sequence of the manufacturing details in
the quote and then click OK the new cost will NOT be reflected in the
Worksheet. It appears that there is a problem with one of the update
triggers. To have the new cost reflected in the Worksheet you need to
(this is what worked for us...no other fields were tested) open the
material sequence, toggle the Purchase check box, click ok. Then open
the material sequence again and toggle the purchase box and click ok.
If you open the Worksheet the new material cost will now be reflected.
We tested quotes entered after the upgrade and they work correctly. It
just seems to be a problem with quotes that existed at the time of the
upgrade.
I know there are a few other users that have upgraded recently to 6.1 so
thought I would throw this out to the group as a potential issue.

We have several Blackberries. I tried the desktop redirector - I had a

of the email to the Blackberries web client (Cingular-Blackberry
solution). It works fairly well.

Todd,
Why can't you just set Exchange to Copy and Forward the email to the
Verizon email account. That way the email will be at both devices. I
use Eudora mail on my palm phone/pda to access my Sprint email. If I'm
on the go and want my email to follow me - I just set my account at my
post office to copy and forward it my Sprint account. Sorry - don't use
exchange - too evil for my blood. If Exchange is too stubborn to do
that then you can always setup a rule at the end users pc (but it will
have to running) to forward the inbound to the cellphone email account.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone else was having an error with the Vendor
Selection
Screen. Its kinda strange. It happens anywhere I use the Vendor
Selection
Screen. It errors out with a message that a memory location could not
be
read.
It happens on my Terminal Server as well as my Vantage server. If I
launch
the live database from my development server where my mfg file points to
a
local copy of the vantage files but to the live copy of the database, I
dont
get
the error. This has me thinking that there is a problem with the files
on
my
Production server and not a problem with the database.
I was just wondering if anyone else had seen this. An example would be
the
Open Purchase Order report. I'm going to try the normal stuff fix stuff
tonight, like rebooting the server, reapplying the patch .526. ect.
Thanks
Jeremy

the invoice from the orignal pc it is fine? Any possible solutions
besides the ones that support gave me and I tried? (I tried loading
the exact driver for the printer from cd, web site. No luck)
I am not any good with Crystal Reports so that is all unfamiliar
territory to me. If this helps the individuals have deskjets for
their default printers but they select the other one that they want to
use when they print and still gray.

It's a combination of drivers and the form itself.
The fix is easy. Open the form in Crystal and make the header with the
grey
background a little smaller. What is happening is it is overlapping the
detail.

They are rock solid - built like tanks. Expensive too. We used them

from Anchorage to Phoenix on somewhat slow lines so data load was
critical. The printer would merge the data with the stored label
format. Savings in network load offset the printer price difference.
Now, with Windows and fast networking and for design RB and
Crystal....there has been nothing easier than our Zebra Z4M printer and
in 3-4 years it has never had a problem other than a worn out print
head. I just treat it like a laser printer.

Here's an "out there" method..... (if the linking to other tables is not
too extensive)
Create two "alias" tables for the main table and use the "previous"
function to link back to one and the previous on that one to link back
to the third. Then print them all as lines in a footer on the first
one.
Or....maybe easier
Setup a counter and find the max(count)-prepass then have a conditional
band line that prints only if count <= max-2.

Do you strictly use RB and Crystal to generate your barcodes? If you're
using Crystal how do you specify the specific output of the bar-code
(e.g. bar-width ratio) Or do you also use some dedicated bar-code
generation software? If so, which one?
We're currently using LabelView but I'm looking for a replacement
product.
