Is there any way to disable the EDD ICON on the Kinetic Active home page for specific users? We have searched in User Security Settings and cannot find any settings that keep this Icon from showing up.
We have opened up EDD settings and deleted access for specific users but every time they click on the EDD Icon in Kinetic there access for EDD shows up as view again. Are we missing settings somewhere for this?
Not sure on why, if you remove their access within EDD that it comes back. I haven’t experience that, but I also haven’t tested to see if it comes back if a user were to click on the EDD icon. I assumed it wouldn’t work… but never verified.
We really haven’t rolled out much EDD content so it still sits at the bottom of my to-do list.
I created a test user. Logged into EDD via the Icon in Kinetic. Signed in as that user. Then logged out and got back into EDD as an admin. Deleted that user. Closed / Logged back into Kinetic with the test user. Clicked the EDD Icon and back in as a Viewer again even after they were deleted.
I am not sure what the Advanced EDD (pay extra version) does for this but there does not seem to be any controls in Kinetic to limit access to EDD.
So… you said you deleted the user in EDD. What happens if you leave the User… but strip away its permissions. Do they stick?
I’m wondering if it is set-up to automatically create a new user in EDD as a Viewer when they first access EDD. You can then take permissions away… but leave the user in there.
That way, if they try to log back in it won’t create a new user… it’ll see the existing one with no permissions.
It shouldn’t work that way… but, stranger things have happened.
Last time I was in there, I noticed 2, 3, or 4 “Users” in EDD for most of my employees. So… no clue what’s going on in that system.
I tried what you said, removing the Viewer permission from the test user id and then logged back into Kinetic with that same user id.
I then opened EDD from the Kinetic Active home page, the browser opened with the user logged into EDD but there was nothing there.
So that worked to keep the user from seeing anything in EDD.
Not the best solution because you have to manually go into EDD for every user id you want to keep from accessing the reports or whatever they are called, lol.
Good work around for now, thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah, this is definitely something they need to help consolidate. We shouldn’t have to manage securities from multiple places.
And Users should not even be “Viewers” by default. If they want to automatically create the EDD user upon first sign-on… fine. But they should have zero permissions unless granted by an admin.
Anyway… glad you got a little closer, anyway, hahaha.
