Disappearing Invoices

Thanks for the suggestion, but RB is as foreign to MSI as..., well you
get the idea! Nobody here has ever created a RB report. Unfortunately,
our former IT manager, Oleg Tumarkin, created a dozen or so for us while
he was here, but now if we want to tweek any of them, or create new
ones... I guess that makes us a candidate for an early conversion to
8.0!

I know it goes against Vantage logic (to never delete), but is the
invoice gone for good, or just hidden somewhere? Just curious, since we
have found a copy of the deleted invoice (we don't need to re-create
it).

Rick you might try running an RB report that only looks at the GAPS of
the
invoice number sequence. IE use RB last record to look at the last
invoice number, subtract the current invoice number from the last
invoice
number and if the result is greater than one you have a hit. Then you
could
compare Dates and then shipments and many be zero in on some shipping
information. I've used this trick to track unregistered checks.

unread group messages (dating back to 2/04) over the past few weeks and
am down to less than 50.

Could this be the work of the dreaded "lunch buzzard" swooping into your
database and stealing the invoice?!

Seriously, I'd bet the invoice was created, printed, then deleted. We
have an invoice that I found the other day that this happened to, and to
make matters worse, it was mailed to the customer and they paid it!!
Now I'm researching the issue (we've added to their account as a credit
memo temporarily) before I call the customer and try to explain the mix
up!

I wish there was a way to track deleted invoices within Vantage, rather
than just assuming it was deleted if you can not find it.

check the date of the invoice.............it may be outside of your report
parameters.

Another thought, A/R? right, you said customer stmt......... if A/P, it
might not have posted if there was a out of balance situation between header
and lines. But in A/R, was the invoice on hold for some reason?

Joan, When you create a batch in A/R and pull in shipments, Vantage assigns
an invoice number to each shipment. At that time, you could have printed an
invoice. However, you still have the opportunity to delete the invoice.
Therefore, you could have created the invoice, printed it, deleted it, then
posted the group. At that point, you would have a copy of an invoice that
no longer exists.

journal for the date of the invoice
