Since every phone system is different it is very difficult to
troubleshoot without seeing it. Here are some general tips that may
help but not sure if you "touch" the phone system at all:
1) If the phone system has multiple cards that are identical, you
can down the phone system and swap boards to see if the problem
transfers (my phone system has 4 cards for digital phones).
2) Reseat all the connectors on the phone system.
3) Reseat all circuit boards in the phone system.
4) If wires punch down on a 66 or 110 block, re-punch the wires
associated with line 100.

When the phone comes in and we transfer to the person, the problem
follows
the call. So, it is not the phone it self.
It is a shareable line, meaning if I hit the outgoing line I get
whichever
line is next available but I can tell which line I am dialing out on or
which line I am getting a phone call in on. The only line that has the
noise is line 100. Line 100 is our main incoming.

When the T1 provider came in he said he tested the phone before our line
and
he did not hear static. So I would have to assume it is the phone

Stupid Question
Did you test the phone on a different line to make sure it's not the
phone?
If you did and the problem sticks with the port it's probably the phone
switch. I've had static on analog ports in the past and we had to
replace
the phone switch card that handled that port.
This is always a problem with phone providers and phone service
providers.
They love to play the point the finger game. I have worked with phone
systems for the past 18 years and I say it's the phone system's problem,
or
the cabling from the switch to the phone is bad. If it's a VoIP phone
check
the programming on it, something might be wrong there.......Then call
the
phone system provider and tell them you are evaluating a new Cisco
system,
they should be out quickly.

Question
Hello Everyone!
Here is my dumb question of the week. We are having a problem with one
of
our telephone lines (line 100) there seems to be a lot of static/noise
on
this line on incoming phone calls. I called our T1 provider and they did
not feel it was their problem since it was only on 1 of our 8 lines. But
they came out and tested line, and said it was not their side. So our
called our phone provider and they said it is not them because it is
only on
one of the lines, that I needed to call the phone company. The phone
provider does not want to come out.
I am getting different stories from each provider both pointing fingers
at
each other. So, my question is, who is right? If it was the T1 line
would
it normally be all the lines? Is it odd that it is just one incoming
line?
