I’ve been asked if dual sourcing can be done on Epicor 10 has anyone done this and if so how was it? and where would i start.

Sort of depends on what you mean by “dual sourcing”.
Out of the box, you can a a “primary” supplier to the PartPlant record, and when a PO is suggested, that will be the supplier on the PO Suggestion record. Whoever processes the suggestions can modify that as they wish. Also at the PartPlant record, you can specify an “Urgent Planning” supplier that offers a shorter lead time but a higher price, and MRP (or Generate Suggestions) will select that supplier if the conditions warrant.
There is also a Purchase Contracts module that you can use to set up multiple suppliers for parts, what percentage of demand goes to each supplier, and schedules for deliveries. In my experience (I’ve installed it twice) it is a somewhat finicky setup, but if you take the time to understand the concepts and do the setup properly, it works quite well.
