I've searched through previous post and found some talk but no solution.
We're on vantage 8.03. When printing to the Dymo label printer it will only print on half of the 2 5/16"x4" label. I set the printer to the correct label size, I created the label in crystal, prints perfect.
I can get a good label to print through vantage but I have to print preview, change printer to Dymo(local printer), go into advanced print and check that the correct label size is selected and it is. Then I can print. If I don't look at the printer preferences and check label size, it will only print on half the label. It's seems that vantage is not using the printer settings and defaults to mailing label instead of using the shipping label I selected. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Helen
Are you printing a BAQ Report Designer report or a Dashboard Crystal report link.
They work very different.
Â
BAQ report designer will open Crystal then it will look at the DEFAULT printer on the workstation to get the paper size. It will overwrite the Crystal setting for paper size but not for portrait / landscape. To check make the Dymo Label printer the default printer and set the label size to the correct size in the printer driver. Then go to Vantage and see if it will print correct.
A Dashboard report link for some reason will usually work better.
Â
The same thing happens on regular printers when changing the paper size from Letter to Legal. It uses the default paper size from the default printer.

Thanks for your reply. I am printing a crystal report, "part tags".
I made the Dymo printer the default printer with the correct size labels. When I print preview in vantage, it views the report as a mailing label, 1" x 4".
This is making me nuts!

I just got word from Support there is a bug in 8.03.407 that has to do with the paper size when printing a Crystal Report.
Â
You can use /RPT in the after the mfgsys.exe if you are on 8.03.404 but it was broken in 8.03.407 and should be fixed in 8.03.408. You will still have to add the /RPT switch to have the runtime use the settings from Crystal.
Â
Â
Â
Â
The /RPT switch instructs the Crystal runtime program to
use/load the modified Printer Settings as they were embedded or saved
into the report.

8.03.408 will fix everything apparently!

I really, really wish Epicor would settle on a single, easy to manage configuration regime.

Right now the client can be configured via:

- Command-line switches.
- Config file options.
- Extra config files.
- Customizations in the database.
- Personalizations in the database.

Things start to get painful if you need to give everyone an updates set of config files, new shortcuts, etc. That's a argument for Citrix right there.

Seems like this could be greatly simplified. At a minimum, why not have the client fetch the config via HTTP at startup and keep the command-line switches to an absolute minimum? That way, the client gets launched with a minimal set of config options, and no local config file.

e.g. mfgsys.exe -configurl http://vantageserver/config/myconfig.mfgsys

These files are small, fetching them wouldn't increase startup time, and they're easily cached in memory. If I update them centrally, everyone has the new options.

Assuming you plan your config files carefully enough you can update everyone at the same time, and have all of the flexibility you need.

Can anyone fill me in as to where I should insert the /RPT switch in the client mfgsys.exe?

I contacted Epicor last week (cited it as a "known issue"), and even after numerous inquiries, they've still not replied.

Thanks!!
