E-learning audio quality questions?

Agree with you especially about the training classes, multi levels would be
a good idea.

After waiting my turn for the soapbox, here goes.

It might be beneficial if there was a script written and practiced

Oh, and if I heard how a memo field works once, I heard it 50

I doubt there will be any changes for 6.1 e-learning, but maybe 8.0

Hello,

I am getting poor audio watching E-learning sessions. The audio is
choppy and broken. It seems like a buffering problem. I have a T1
connection at work, and Comcast at home, I do not think its a download
speed problem. Clients are all new 3.GHz processors, 1 gig of ram, XP
SP2 (turning off the firewall made no difference). I suspect it's a
configuration problem, but do not know where to start?

Thanks

Dan,

I too would like to know if others have the same issues with the audio
quality in the e-learning's.

I haven't listened to any of the e-learning sessions in a couple months
since our implementation is on hold. However, when Epicor first switched
over from Centra to WebX for the e-learning's (early July 2005), they did
not re-record the sessions. Epicor simply converted them from one
compressed format into another compressed format and the audio quality was
horrible (In our opinion many were bordering on unusable). We emailed a
complaint to 'msg.education@...' but no one ever responded. A few
weeks later, I expressed our dissatisfaction with the web site interface and
poor audio quality of the new learning portal at one of the regional
training classes and was told that Epicor training would re-record the
sessions when they have time and that they are working on improving the site
interface. To my knowledge nothing has happened on either yet. Even worse,
I have tried one e-learning since then that was new and only recorded in
WebX and while it wasn't as bad, it's audio was still very poor. We have a
similar configuration to you and tried the e-learning's on several computers
with high quality speakers. We don't have audio quality issues with any
other audio apps on these computers (streaming or standard audio), including
Epicor's marketing WebX's.

So in short, I don't think it's your settings. I think Epicor is simply
posting recordings with poor audio quality (whether that's due to cheap
microphones, too much compression, the wrong audio recording settings or
something else is anyone's guess). If others are having the same issues and
you're unhappy, let Epicor know.
