Yes, I tried that, but the only thing the supplier GL Control code overrides is the inventory/expense. Typically you would use product group as the subcontract is really a cost of sale for that group but if you want to see what your subcontract cost breakout is by type of subcontract its not going to help in our case.

I think posting rules is the only way to go. I'm going to try it and see if it can be done with an extended posting rule and update the group when I am done

Thanks Rick

Mark,
Could setting the GL Control in Supplier Entry for the suppliers who do each subcontract operation achieve this? I haven't seen anyone set GL Controls on the supplier, but it is an option. Haven't tested it, but I was thinking the following:
Subcontract Operations: 'HEAT-TREAT' 'PAINT'
Supplier assigned to each SubOp in Operation Maint: 'HEATTREATERINC' ' PAINTERINC'
In Supplier Maint for HEATTREATERINC & PAINTERINC assign a GL Type & Control
then run a test Job and see where it goes. May need to mess with GL Types and Controls? Finance is not my strong point.

I am thinking of an extended posting rule modification based on the operation but wanted to know if anyone else has encountered this and found another way to handle it?
