E9: Make a custom field updatable on a shipped shipment

There are a few tables in the system that are a pain like this. In E9 though, you could use a UDtable and a FKV to attach it to the appropriate table. Epicor won’t apply it’s “read only after marked as shipment” logic to the UD table and you can do your thing.

Hmmm. Your responds makes me think that I didn’t ask the question correctly or clearly.
I suppose when I ask “Is this possible?” it could be construed as a yes/no question and by not adding “If yes, how?” it would be impossible to know that I was looking for help.

Anyway, after I added the field I noticed that it behaves like most fields in that once the shipment is marked as shipped it becomes read only. It would be nice if I could update this field even after the shipment was marked as shipped in a similar way as the tracking number.
You mentioned that this could be done but what I’m not sure of is the “how”. From the UI customization side, is there a property that would allow this? If yes, could you tell me the name of the property? If it’s not a property, do you have any insight on how to achieve this?

I’m wondering…if I were to be able to get past this first hurdle, will the application complain that I am trying to update a field after the shipment is marked as shipped but I’ll see what happens.

You can do it via a Customization and BPM combination
Attach the field you want to update to a call context data view
Add a Button below it which will trigger adapter.Update()
then using the value from the call context data you can update the field

You could also try just doing an after field change event in the call context and seeing if it will allow you call adapter.Update() without a BPM
