I think it will be grayed out except for the company in which you created it. I might try deleting and recreating them and checking the checkbox when you create it. As I understand menu security then it the security should only apply in the current company.

Just the opposite, I have dashboards which are unique to each company within my
multi-company environment. When I hang the dashboard on one company, it is
displaying on the other companies menu as well. The "current company" checkbox
on security is grayed out

So are you saying that you have a dashboard and you want it to work
across multiple companies?
Do you have MultiCompany running?
If so, what I wind up doing is marking the BAQ as global.
Multicompany will then replicate this BAQ (with the same ID, including
the source company prefix) to all other companies that your source
company is configured to replicate data to.
Then you can export the dashboard from the source company, change
companies, and import it into the target company, but don't import the
BAQ (there's a checkbox), since the BAQ will already be in the current
company courtesy of MultiCompany (but it is only editable/maintainable
in its source company, which is easy to identify since all BAQs are
prefixed with the CompanyID of the company in which they are created).
This would ensure that this single menu item is pointing to a real
working dashboard with the same id across multiple companies. The point
here being that while menu items are global, dashboards and BAQs are
company-specific. MultiCompany will replicate BAQs to other companies
if you use the global checkbox, but dashboards need to be exported and
imported into each company.
Alternatively you could create completely separate menu items and use
the 'current company only' checkbox on the security tab to limit access
to this menu item only from the current company. Obviously you'll need
to switch companies to create each meny item, and you'll probably want
to prefix the menu item name with the company it belongs to so you know.
In that case you'd have completely separate dashboards with their own
BAQs and different menu items pointing to each of them.

I've tried creating different menu ids for different companies, but when
I
deploy a dashboard for one company it is still showing for my other
companies,
even though if you try to open it for the company it was designed for
you get an
error message saying invalid dashboard
Any tips on deploying dashboards in multi-company environment to prevent
users
from seeing dashboards from other companies?
