E9 - receive large quantities of serialized parts

We don't capture serial numbers at receiving but, we did write a BPM to read
a Excel file at Customer Shipment.

It works quite well.

We receive PC boards from our vendors which can total up to 1000 boards at a
time. We would like to use the vendor's serial numbers but having to scan or
enter each one at a time would be impractical. The vendor has offered to
send us a .csv file with their serial numbers so we can import them on each
pack slip

Anyone else receiving large quantities of serial numbers where they are
tracking the vendors serial number at the time of receipt?

Hi,
Â
Are the serial numbers on the delivery note. I have seen this done before. Is that you could scan the delivery note in and use the ms office ocr dll to capture the serial numbers from the doc. This relies on a template being setup to mirror the location of the serial numbers on the page and some validation around the serial numbers. But it does work like a dream. The other option, if the serial number format (vendors) is sequential, you could look to do something around that.
