E9 to E10: Crystal Report Data Definitions

I just ran into this situation this week.  I was lucky it was only one field.  Looking forward, I thought what would I do if I ran into this again.  One choice is the one shared to start over with the E10 RDD; probably the best idea if you did a good job of documenting your prior changes to the RDD.  However, I didn't do a good job.

My thought as to how to avoid this trial and error would be to screenshot the E10 RDD and compare to your customized RDD adding any additional fields.
Hello,

While we hope to move to SSRS as quickly as possible, we will need to use some crystal reports in E10 from the get go.

I am reviewing a report data definition that was originally a duplicate of OrderAck in E9 and so far I’ve come across two issues.

The first is: I just tried to do a print preview to see what would happen. I got an error “Task: Column 'Calc_CarrierDesc' does not belong to table OrderHed.”
I looked in E9 and this isn’t listed anywhere in the report data definition. I looked in E10 and it’s not there either.
I decided to add a calculated field to my report definition in E10 just to see what would happen.
Now the print preview failed with the same error but this time its “Calc_CarrierSCAC”. I suspect that as I continue, this will keep happening until I’ve addressed all these “missing” fields.
It looks like these field are in the E10 version of OrderAck, which is likely why it’s complaining.

Have others ran into this?
Do I just keep going or are others just rebuilding the report definition based on the new E10 versions?

The second issue is that I don’t seem to be able to select UD fields when working with Linked Tables. Have others seen this? If there a fix or work around?

Thanks all.

I've just started with a Copy of the "E10" RDD and the modified the report accordingly to accept it. Instead of the other way around.

I agree with Jose. Duplicate E10 RDD and add required tables and fields.
