ECM Versioning with Epicor Attaching - Attachments Created from Drag and Drop or Paperclip

When using attaching a file to Epicor and the content type being an ECM document, I uploaded the same named file to the record twice and the second time it gave me a message saying it will overwrite the first one. I was hoping if I clicked “Ok” it would create a version, but it didn’t do that, nor did it overwrite the existing file, it created the file again, a second time, with the same name.

Is there something I am missing, should it be creating a second version?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Does your user have the Version Publishing permission? Make sure it’s enabled in the security class too.

There’s a setting in Attachment Type Maintenance for duplicate names too.

my user in ECM?

Thanks, and this attachment type maintenance setting interfaces/integrates with ECM’s versioning functionality?

Yes. Sadly you have to manage permissions and users/groups separately directly in ECM.

Chadd, but what user is this because it’s the fileattach service that’s doing the attaching…

In other words, people are using the attachment functionality in Epicor and choosing a doc type that’s ECM.

It’s whatever user is defined in the Attachment Type Maintenance.

Thanks, I missed the meeting last week where they went over this and it’s been a minute. thank you.

When it’s set to Version in Kinetic it versions in ECM correctly.

And the default attachment service user has version permission on the security class of the attachment type.

Happy to help!

And you also have to add the Auto Add Versioning on in the attachment type too right?

The Prompt should work but we didn’t have luck with that. So we defaulted to versioning to be safe.
