When using attaching a file to Epicor and the content type being an ECM document, I uploaded the same named file to the record twice and the second time it gave me a message saying it will overwrite the first one. I was hoping if I clicked “Ok” it would create a version, but it didn’t do that, nor did it overwrite the existing file, it created the file again, a second time, with the same name.
Is there something I am missing, should it be creating a second version?
We are currently implementing ECM (on-prem) and I was under the impression that the versioning and/or the message of overwriting an attachment of the same name would result in a single attachment, but I keep getting multiple attachments of the same name, while inside ECM I do see a single doc with versions listed.
Am I mistaken in my misunderstanding of how the attachments within Kinetic work/appear, do I not have something set properly perhaps, or is this a bug in 2024.1.9?
By “it” I assume you are referring to versioning? With versioning off for the document type you get the overwrite message and Kinetic maintains a single attachment? Do you have the duplication setting in Attachment Type Maintenance for ECM set to Prompt or something different?
I am referring to versioning when I say “it”. And yes I get the duplicate message.
Attached are the instructions Attaching a Duplicate Document in Kinetic.pdf (74.8 KB)
I sent out about duplicate attachments and also pictured here is the setting on the attachment type:
