On the subject of the education dept layoffs, I've been told that the
plan is to pull in field consultants to teach the education classes, and
Epicor plans to continue offering education classes on an ongoing basis,
as they have in the past. Personally, I think the education dept staff
who were laid off were very good instructors, however there is also
value in having experienced people from the field teaching classes,
because they may have 'real world' experience that makes the instruction
more relevant.
And on the topic of Perspectives, there are some adjustments underway,
as there are every year, to try make the conference attractive and
relevant. We're not on the same schedule we are usually on, but the
conference is a month later than usual this year.
Once again, 50% of the sessions are put on by users, and we're looking
for presenters - so let me know if you're interested in showing
something you've done with the product.
One thing we struggle with is content regarding older versions, and of
course, because of the rather large changes between 6.1 and 8, there are
quite a few installations still on 6.1. Other than sessions on
upgrading from 6.1, since there's obviously no big new development work
being done in 6.1, what would 6.1 users like to see in content at
Perspectives?
