Electronic Interface for ACH payments

Mark and Cathy,

Something like you guys are doing is along the lines of what I was planning on.  Glad to know something like this would work!

Hello,

Our bank has given us their ACH format for payables and such, and I'm assuming using the Electronic Interface is what I'd use to customize the character and format properties, however I'm not sure what program to use or if this is something I'll have to create as well.  I'm honestly wondering if it's just not better to create something in Crystal Reports instead.

I'd love to hear some experiences on what everyone does for ACH and EFT payments on Epicor 9, and if I'm on the right track.

Thanks,

Epicor doesn't have a standard ACH format they use some oddball format that most banks don't accept you'll have to customize this (Epicor has this code written and you can usually just get it from them, or conversely you can write your own)
They may have included it with the most recent releases though I haven't checked.

I did create a support call on this and they said it's a customization issue; no mention of whether they had the code. Do you have a contact I could talk to to get a look at it?

No I do not sorry. I do know someone who I used to work with that has the customization made they might be able to sell it to you. Contact me off the list of you want that information.

Thanks!

I used a product called EasyACH from Coastal Software in Vancouver, WA. Very easy to set up to take a specifically formatted file and convert to a standard ACH format for sending to the bank. I used Report Builder but Crystal would have worked fine.  I then had a Crystal Report for creating remittance advices to be sent to the vendors and used CRD (Crystal Reports Distribution from Christian-Steven) to email the PDFs based on a specific vendor contact’s email address. The people at Coastal were very easy to work with. About 2/3 of the vendors were on electronic payment when I left saving a ton of people time and postage.

Thanks,

THanks guys, seems a very odd thing to not have available as it seems a pretty standard format.  There's a million ACH converters available, I might just grab something and have it auto process a csv export.
We setup a query, using payment method as a filter. We created a new payment method called ACH and attached it to the bank we pay from. We then worked with the bank on a very simple format (check number, amount, routing number, supplier ID, date, and one or two other fields)

We use the BAQ export to send this as a csv file to a shared drive every night. The AP Person logs into the bank, goes to the ACH file import screen, finds the .csv file and uploads it. When they are done they move the file to an archived folder)

The bank may send you a document with ACH formats that can be a lot more involved, header records and line records, but we worked with several different banks and if you get to the right person you will usually find they will accept a very simple format. Some banks let you decide the file format when you create the ACH upload on their web site

Back in 2008, we wrote a Crystal report with the Header and Footer required.

Exported it to a text File and then uploaded to the bank.

I am sure there is an easier way now.

Subject: [Vantage] Electronic Interface for ACH payments

Thanks,
