Email PO directly to vendor

We use Winfax Pro. It integrates with Microsoft Outlook well and has the
option to E-mail a fax (PO or whatever else you can print from Vantage)

There is an adequate free program called "Efax" which can be downloaded. We
have been using it for a while now and your supplier doesn't need the
program to open the PO as it is a self-executing program.

Thanks,

From our Purchasing department:

"I want to know the feasiblity of emailing purchase orders to the vendors.
The confirmation would be easier as would pricing. (Right now we fax through
the computer) A few of the vendors have asked, and I think it would be a
good idea."

Any recommendations of software you're using would be appreciated. Thank
you.

Amy,

This sounds alot like what my sales team has been asking me for. When they
do a quote they would like the ability to have that quote directly emailed.
Yes I know, save as .pdf and attach, but that isnt as easy as if there was
an option to email next to the print button.

With all the virus problems out there, self-executing files attached to
emails might not be the way to go.

Amy, some of the others have mentioned eFax -eMessenger Plus; installs like
a Printer driver then when you print your PO or Quote or Sale Order...
doesn't matter, you can select
'Send with eFax Messenger Plus' which then allows you to fax through their
service (we do not) or send through your email client (it detects at
installation). All it does is create .PCX images of each page then allows
you to annotate, secure with a password and a host of other options. We use
it for emailing quotes, sales order acknowledgments and vendor PO's to name
a few.

We purchased a email utility from Caesar Development. If you are familiar
with Crystal reports, then you know that from within crystal you can click
the 'Export' button and one of the options is to email the report as 'Rich
Text Format'(among other formats). It opens your email application and
attaches the file itself. All you have to do is put in the address and type
a subject and any message you want, then click send. With Caesar
development's utility, it brings this functionality into Vantage, by giving
you more features in the 'print preview'. It also does some other stuff,
too, like giving the ability to choose which form you want from a drop-down
list. This function can be enabled or disabled.

The only thing is, the reports that we made, sometimes would look 'funny'
when exported in Rich Text format and then opened in say, MS word.
However, this can be corrected by tweaking the reports. It has been working
very well for us, as we now email all of our quotes and sales order
acknowledgements, and many our PO's and invoices.

I read on epicor's website that 5.0 has the ability to email. Can anyone
comment on that functionality who is running or testing 5.0?

HTH,

Sarah
