We use a product called Messenger. Formerly known as Faxserve from a
company called ACCPAC, originally developed by Computer Associates I
think.
Messenger allows us to send documents via e-mail or fax at the same
time. Say we want to send an Order Acknowledgement out and the
customer wants it faxed and the sales rep wants it e-mailed. The
order entry clerk would begin like she was printing the document, but
instead of choosing a printer she would choose Messenger. After that
a window will pop up where she can choose who she wants to send it
to. We have contact lists for our Customers, Reps, and Vendors out
in Public Folders on our Exchange Server. These lists are kept up to
date automatically with a product called Orbis Intelliware and an
Access DB I created (but that is another story). The clerk can
choose any combination of Fax and E-mail addresses from the contact
list. Enter comments if necessary and then hit send. E-mail
recipients recieve a .tif file. Works well for us.
By the way, at Perspectives there was some mention of an Advanced
Printing Module that is supposed to help out in this area too. I
don't have any details for you, but you might want to investigate.

We use a program called PDF Maker. It's way cheaper that the actual Adobe version.
You can email directly from the print button.

Due to a whole bunch of great advice from people here, we purchased PDF
Factory to email directly from Vantage, and Zetafax to fax directly from
Vantage. Both work wonderful. Hope that helps.
