eManufacturing installation

I forgot to mention, my new codes were emailed to me within 10 minutes. I
was impressed with that.

I received the wrong codes with mine. I requested new ones
several weeks ago and still haven't seen them.

Is anyone actually running live with version 5.0 (Progress version)?
What problems are you having?
What modules do you run?
We have been to the "road show" on eManufacturing and would like to install 5.0 soon, but we would like to hear of your successes and problems first.

Actually, I think what I'm going to do is do a standalone install as a dress
rehersal, and then convert a copy of my existing data base. I realize that
there's a difference, but its close enough to know where you need to be
alert.

What Shirley is planning on doing, I just got done doing. The whole process
took about around 4 hours from start to finish. Did the install, restored
last nights backup to the db folder, ran the schema change. That took about
an hour and a half on my 340 mb database. So far so good, until I logged on
the first time and went to enter my license codes. I thought something was
strange when the paper said expiration date '05/20/00'. Oh well, let's try
it. Serial number went in ok, the base codes wouldn't go. I got an error
telling me the codes were invalid. Thought I'd try the other modules. They
went ok (ALL modules, I might add). So I placed a call to tech support.
Waited a couple minutes. Explained the problem and was told immediately I
had to call Epicor/Irvine since that is where the codes are generated.
Called Irvine, waited awhile (good thing I like classical music, good thing
this isn't the middle of the night-I wouldn't be a happy camper, good thing
this isn't the middle of the day-my users wouldn't be happy campers, good
thing the operator has a pleasant phone voice). Finally, after another
transfer and going around and around trying to make myself understood that I
was installing eManufacturing I was able to make some real progress (no pun
intended).

Anyhow, turns out the paper wasn't lying. Those codes really did expire
05/20/00. They were for an early access release of Cairo I never got around
to installing. They were the codes that came with my commercial release,
Epicor just never bothered to bring them current.

Moral of this story: Pay attention to the codes sheet. If you got an early
access copy, especially beware. Don't waste your time entering any more
codes before you get current ones. Even the progress codes changed which I
also had to re-enter.

After all that and getting squared away with all the license codes, the
database conversion took a little over 1/2 hour. Did I mention my database
was around 340 mb. Now it's 342 mb which I was expecting to be around 500
mb since I read somewhere to expect the database to grow by at least 50%.
Maybe some others can speak to that?

Aside from the 45 minute delay, the install/schema change/conversion went
pretty smoothly.

Epicor/Irvine phone number 1-800-309-9990 option 1 or 2. I took option 2.
