Engineering Drawings Sign Off for Approval

When a drawing is approved we create a PDF with a red MFG stamp on it
(done in Acrobat) and link the drawing to the part. I have a server for
housing the drawings. The print can be viewed and or printed from the Shop
Floor job or part trackers.

All,

When we approve our in house print we manufacture our product to, we do this
by having the Engineering Manager initial the revision as approved in the
revision box on the drawing.
We view and use the unsigned copy shared on the network server but to get
rid of the file cabinet of printed signed copies I have to sign off
electronically somehow. We use AutoCad 2005. Any suggestions, comments,
ideas, etc....

How are all of you doing this?

Could have an approved directory that only the manager can read and write
to.
They could review the proposed drawing and move it to approved
