Enterprise Search Management

Has anybody done this and does it work?
went into the Epicor Admin Console (recently) and under Enterprise Search Management, right click the server you want to speed up and select 'Rebuild Index'. Putting an index on the DB made all the difference... I can query the parts DB and pull down all the parts we have and it is instantanious! - Everybody should be indexing regularly to keep their DB fast.

.

Thank you in advanced.Â

Does anyone know if there is a way to get the "change log" selection from within the Engineering Workbench screens? I can enable a "create log" BAM on the "ECO" tables but I can't find where we could view any changes made. Any ideas????

Usually, you can view these in the form for the screen (in this case the engineering workbench) - there should be an open book icon after you bring up a record...Hang over and it shows "change log..."
Otherwise, there is also a table for baqs named something similar, but you have to get the correct filtering for your table within the change log table...

Yea, the "change log" icon/menu choice doesn't show up on the Engineering
Workbench screen, that's the problem I have. I'd love to be able to just
create and run a report of the changes using Crystal Reports but the
"ChgLog" tables (ChgLog,CHGLogHA,ChgLogTB) doesn't seem to have all of the
information. Are there more/different tables that house this info? Thanks
for your help!

I need a way to track changes made to MOMs. Right now, anyone can edit a
REV of a MOM and not tell anyone and I have no way of knowing "what" they
changed on a REV unless they make a new REV (which doesn't always happen).
I figured if I stuck a "create log" event BAM on the ECOOpr and ECOMatl
tables and all of their fields, I could check the log and see what changed.

I would LOVE to know how other companies deal with unregulated changes to
MOM's in Vantage..PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Thanks!

If the form doesn't have the change log button you can create your own under the Actions menu, and in the click event for the new button use this code. This example shows how to display the change log window for the selected resource in resource group maintenance, should get you pointed in the right direction.

Private Sub btnChgLog_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal args As System.EventArgs)
' ** Place Event Handling Code Here **
Dim edvRes As EpiDataView = CType(oTrans.EpiDataViews("Resource"), EpiDataView)
Dim resIdent As String = edvRes.dataView(edvRes.Row)("RowIdent")
      Dim chg As Epicor.Mfg.UI.App.ChgLogEntry.ChgLogArgs
      chg.Start(oTrans, "Resource", resIdent, True)
   End Sub

Try implementing the Change Log on PartRev, PartOpr, and PartMtl rather than the ECO tables. These part tables will be updated with the changes from the Engineering Workbench upon check in. The changes should be viewable in the Part Maintenance Change Log.

I think Bob has the right idea.

Until methods are checked in, I usually don't care about tracking edits/changes as they occur in the Eng Workbench.

But I have made a few custom reports using the ECO tables. Things like ECO summaries, "pre-checkin BOM", etc... can come in handy.

I haven't found a way to track material or operation deletions from the Job Entry screen, but I created BPMs on Method.JobEntry.CheckPrePartInfo that send me an email for new subassemblies, new materials, or new operations added. It's pretty crude but it's effective. At some point I'll collate the information and let Engineering know what Production is doing.
