Enterprise Search not working on Clients

Long time lurker, first time posting. So we’re staring to work on moving to 2024.1 from 2023.2 and have set up a separate app server on a Windows 2022 server. Setup went fine and was able to get our current data loaded from a backup.

It’s all working fine EXCEPT Enterprise Search. The extension for it was set up and everything seems to be working; it created the index and no errors in the builds. If I launch the client from the server as the ERP admin account, search works as expected. What doesn’t work is if I try to use search on a desktop client; it just returns no results were found.

I’ve tried removing the Enterprise Search database and server and reconfiguring it to no avail. Anyone have something similar happen to them or suggest where else I should be looking before taking this to EpicCare?

Thanks in advance!

I’m pretty sure it’s being deprecated, so I don’t know how much luck you are going to have with support.

Edit: Heard from the man himself below → Not being depricated.

Deprecated? My people use it all the time! I had read they had turned it off for Cloud users temporarily about a year ago, but haven’t seen anything else.

It’s just my belief. Don’t read into it anymore than that.

Let me relax any fears if ES is being deprecated they have not told me and I’m in charge of its development. Support should be able to help but it would not hurt if you turned on tracing in ES (should be a knowledge base article) for searching and then checked the ES log to see what it says.

Okay, I feel like an idiot…forgot to do the very simple thing of opening up port 8098 on the server! Uggggh! Works like a charm now on the clients’ workstations.

Thanks for the clarification on ES…I think there’d be a revolt in my office if it disappereared!
