Hi Mary, I don't think a P&L is standard in reports, so you'd need to use report designer to create one (GL > Set-Up). Once you have created a New report and filled in the header details you can select the "report wizard" from the Actions menu and just follow the instructions (it's quite straightforward). After saving you select the report in GL > Reports > Financial report. Selecting a column set and appropriate year/period. The order of the data rows will be dependent on how you have assigned account categories to natural accounts.
P.S. The internal GL report writer is not much used these days. We use the BizNet "XLConnect" which is quite good.
