Epicor 9: 9.04.503b, 9.04.504 or 9.04.504a

Hi
We are already patched to 3.5 sp1, It's just generally slow, especially running reports and print previews take even longer - 45 seconds to preview an invoice!

Scott, we went live on 504 and I would strongly recommend that you get at least to 504 before going live. There were many changes from 503B to 504, too many to list here but you really should at least get to 504. We are in a controlled medical device environment so it will take us a week or so to test 504A but from the updates I have read (and experienced) there are a couple of programs, particularly the generate AR invoices which you should have patched in before you go live if you have not installed 504A. For some reason, the Aging reports wont work without this patch in 504

Mark and Patrick,

Thank you both for your feedback, I appreciate you taking the time to post
your comments. "Get to 504 or higher" is coming through loud and clear!

Patrick, I hope you can get some more "one-off" fixes for your install,
since the .505 SP apparently is not expected for release until
mid-September.

Regards,
Scott

Hi
We went live in April on 503 and did have to patch the accounts side to keep us going, we also have issues with multi level jobs that use reference designators (We are a contract electronics manufacture) but despite this we have been running successfully since.
We are upgrading to 504a on our test server tomorrow and will test it for a week or so before going live due to the number of changes from 503. I would still recommend that you upgrade to 504a before going live.
Just wish they would release a patch to make it run faster!

We found our Epicor 9 was running extremely slow on some of our machines while others seemed fine. Some machines would take 45+ seconds to launch Epicor 9 and about 30+ seconds to open various forms - while other machines seemed more reasonable.

After digging through these machines and comparing, we found that the machines that were slow had Microsoft .Net Framework 2.0 installed with Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 base.

When we did a manual Windows update and installed the .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 patch (which also patches .Net Framework 2.0 to SP2) those machines that were impossibly slow were all back to their quick speeds, lauching Epicor 9 in under 10 seconds.

You can go into the Add/Remove Programs in Windows to see what you've got installed. It will indicate the Service Pack levels on the frameworks you've got installed currently.
