I'm not sure what the annoyances were anymore in version 8 or what they currently are, but I've got a whole new set of annoyances in version 9. I was just talking to our financial guy last Friday about how we wished we hadn't moved to Epicor 9 yet so we wouldn't be spending so much of our time on new bugs or questioning data coming out of the system.
We have roughly 18 bugs submitted just ourselves waiting to get fixed. We have problems with our financial reports, our ability to cycle count, resource groups splitting burden/labor even though set burden = labor, prepayments by customers not being applied to invoices, various screens not refreshing with correct data, single sign-on broken for half our users, etc.
Some we can live with, as we did with version 8 flaws, but spending mass amounts of time trying to figure out why none of our financial reports are correct and why the numbers differ from report to report is really a major problem.
Can't speak for any of the other Epicor 9 sites and how they're faring, I hope we're not the only site experiencing these issues.
As for the SO and Quote screens, I can send you shots of them, but not much has really changed there (other than like one time drop shipment on the SO). Same with shipment entry - much the same.
You can see the SN's shipped in the shipment tracker and then drill into the SN tracker to see the transactions on that SN as well as any lower level serial numbers consumed to make that higher level product.
We have our system set to force SN assignment/matching on shipment, but most of ours really gets done before shipment when it's received into inventory off of jobs. You simply create the top level SN's and then select from those lower level SN's on the job that were issued.
SN Assignment and SN Matching are not available via MES menus, so the full client is required for that. We did create a button for our MES users to perform SN Assignment, but not the parent/child matching.
Let me know if you still want to see screenshots, however there's so many tabs of course on each that you'd have to tell me specifically what you want to see for me to show anything.
