We are in the process of testing WMS processes prior to bringing into Live, however we have noticed an issue when updating Pick from location via Material Request Queue / EMWW app.
basically when we override the Bin locations assigned at allocation, and pick from an alternative location, we eventually get to the stage where picked quantities go back into picking…
Create a sales order for a part
Part should be in stock in multiple locations
Open fulfillment workbench and allocate & release for picking, search by Qty Ascending
Material queue work is then created to pick quantity from specified locations
However, our operator may decide to / be instructed to override the allocations, and instead will take stock from Bin01 as there is sufficient stock there to fulfil the order
Operator overrides the location to Bin 01 for the line requiring 17pcs; Picked qty is updated, and database shows 17pcs in Bin02 (our Picked location)
You used the fulfillment workbench to allocate quantity in 4 separate BINs for this release, and created 4 different STK-SHP transactions in the Material Request Queue?
Where is the data in your screenshots coming from, a BAQ?
Thanks, I wanted to try and replicate it myself, although we do not use allocation here.
This is not a solution but is there a specific reason you allocate instead of simply reserve? We reserve here and allow the pickers to mostly decide where they pick from (with rules) and I have never come across this issue before.
hi Garret
we have 10 + distribution depots 2 of which are large mfg sites so the key for us is to use emww and drive the picking process and remove the required knowledge - this product is in a specific location etc , as staff retention can be low in these areas.
Also a lot of our product looks the same, so leaving it up to the picker can result in wrong picks
Did you ever make it any further on this issue? We see it happen regularly as well when the bin or lot is changed during picking for an operational reason. Not normally an issue, but if there is a delay in shipping the originally allocated inventory that was not picked is unavailable for any future orders.
The only way we could avoid this issue was by introducing a shipping warehouse, so once an item was picked it moved automatically to the shipping warehouse where we could then ship the packs.
