If anyone has specific questions feel free to reach out and I will connect you to the correct team members or provide the answers, we are looking for customers already using Data Collection and or Advanced MES that sees the need for digital work instructions and process control. Note that this solution does not require an operator to touch the screen at each step that can be automated as work is done and interlocked with processes around them. Thanks
I think we would all benefit from a comprehensive side-by-side of all 3, just as soon as your team can put one together.
In the meantime, I’d love to talk to the team because I’ve got folks clamoring for Mattec, but also the digital work instruction piece.
That’s pretty slick! Thanks for specifying the target audience as well!
Mike, I feel like you should be doing sessions on all the integrations Epicor offers, what doesn’t your company have!?
Cloud
oooooo
LOL - We want a lot, and we’re trying everything - only some things stick though.
Nice you have the gusto to try it though, that’s tough especially if some things don’t stick… That generally brings down the willingness to try again.
Technically incorrect. Avalara, EDA, and Automation studio count as cloud right? Plus we’re in bed with MS for office/teams and Azure AD…
We’re Hybrid (said with a slightly posh accent).
We’re all hybrid my friend!
Did they really create Node-RED? I thought a division of IBM was behind that.
In any case, Node-RED is pretty sweet. We use it to tie together our foundry furnace controllers (ModBus/Ethernet) with Twilio and other fun stuff. I highly recommend people check it out if they haven’t yet. It’s free.
You are absolutely correct!
Node-RED - Resources and Tools - IBM Developer - IBM Developer
Thanks!!!
Correct they/we did not create Node-RED it is an open source very flexible tool, eFlex includes an MQTT broker so you can publish and subscribe to topics to drive process control within work instructions, more to come, but glad to hear we have some people using Node-RED already
Thanks for sharing that bit of info. I had never heard of the MQTT only MTConnect.
Are they similar? It looks like MQTT has some more security in mind.
I’ve wondered when one would use MQTT vs OPC-UA and ran across this article:
In addition to TLS and OAuth, segmentation is a powerful Zero Trust tool. Separating the data collection from the reporting wherever possible to protect the Operational Technology network (OT) from the Information Technology network (IT) improves business continuity.
Thanks Mark
