Epicor Quick Ship - Puerto Rico

Hello,

Those of you who are using quick ship and ship to Puerto Rico, do you have the customers set up with the country code of US and the state as PR?

Avatax won’t calculate for our Puerto Rico customers because the country is set as Puerto Rico for their records and Avatax is expecting US.

On the flip side, I can’t get an answer as to what quick ship is expecting when shipping to Puerto Rico. Does Quick Ship need Puerto Rico in the country code, or does it also want it the same as Avalara?

Thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me.

We have had a similar issue in the past. We use Avalara and Quickship. Customer was setup as US as the country, state PR. Which lines up with Avalara expectations. Didn’t have any issues on the Quickship side of things are far as I can tell.

Thanks Chance, I was hoping someone was in the same boat. I know I can switch it around and Avalara will be happy, but I want to make sure I am not messing things up for the Quick Ship side of things.

I’m a quickship novice for sure, but from the IT side of things i didn’t hear any barking at the time:)

Thanks for the full disclosure.

I am hoping to hear back from the quick ship team shortly, I’ll let you know what they officially say as well.

UPS and FedEx require the country as Puerto Rico, but as you say Avalara wants US as that is the correct way. If you have both here is how you get around the issue. Use Puerto Rico as country and then in Tax Connect use the ISO setting and make the PR country have an ISO of US, that makes both work.

Thanks @tmcgrady ! That is also what an epicor employee suggested to do.

Just out of curiosity, @utaylor, does your company have physical nexus in PR, or did the company just decide to register with and collect sales taxes for PR as an alternative to trying to comply with PR’s non-collecting seller use tax reporting requirements, which carry hefty penalties for non-compliance? AFAIK, PR has not established any economic nexus law.

I’m not sure we have thought that deep about PR specifically.

We just have the software running so it records where we are selling and if we meet nexus.
