Epicor Time management and Time Clocks

I thought if we entered time that we had the time management module, I just checked, we don't have time management but have used time and expense entry since we started on Vantage...wow! We are on 9.05.701 and we do have to approve labor entry records pertaining to jobs or we can't close them. I think the system is flawed, it shouldn't even check the approval if the approval process isn't set up (or if time management isn't licensed!). That's just my opinion...Epicor says it's "working as designed"...

We are looking at using Epicor for time management for all employees, not just production and exporting to ADP.

I believe we will need Time Management module, but not Payroll and not Human Capital.

I can’t find what clocks can be used with Time management. Do you have to setup a touchscreen kiosk?

Thanks for any advice.

Jacqueline,

Take a look at the email they sent you,  in my case they sent me a new login name which was much different than the one I used to use.  The new format was WEB\XXXX

We use MES to log time for all employees and pull into Payroll. We don't have time management or HCM, we've had some issues with hitting correct indirect hours but I think it's all sorted now. Clocking in and out creates the labor record so you should be good in pulling that data out of the labor detail report, would just require a custom report.
You can enter time manually thru Time an Expense Entry. It's under Production Management>Job Management>Gen Ops if you're licensed for Time Management. You would need to make sure all employees are added to Employees (former Shop Employees) in order to post time to them. It's manual entry, but you'd be able to use a number of features to minimize the entry work that would be needed. There is a quick entry system where you would be able to record time for an employee in the quick entry system and pull it into a time record. You make use of either daily or weekly time entry.

I had issues also.  The key was the new user ID or login name.  I kept trying to use my old one after the migration.  You have to use their new one: WEB\XXX.XXXXX

Good luck!

FYI, you don't need time management licensing for Time and Expense Entry or using the MES to record times, you just won't be able setup time/expense approval workflows and we've had to come up with a workaround for calculating employee-specific indirect time. The reason we use the MES is because we don't have time management and I was having difficulty in justifying the added cost.
