Exported Crystal Reports

Put the msvcrt.dll on a floppy, boot to dos using a dos boot disk, manually
copy msvcrt.dll to the right folder. Also, with a bit of googling you can
find some small .bat programs to install it at reboot.

We've successfully written custom reports in v8.5 for Vantage 5.2.
I've exported one using the report distribution expert. I've
successfully installed it on a couple client computers. The users can
click the shortcut icon to the custom report and it will open the
report. But... when I click refresh data and/or modify selection
criteria a logon window pops up, very similar to the ODBC window seen
when refreshing a crystal report. The proper username is in place but
the password will not work. Any ideas why? I tried setting up ODBC
connectivity on both computers and can do the Test Connection and it
is successful with the same username and password.

Thanks,

Bruce,

You have to run the ODBCFix patch for Crystal Reports on each
workstation where you install a custom Crystal Report. I believe support
will provide you with that patch.

Thanks for the response. Here's what I've learned: ODBC has to be
configured on each machine, with consistent setup to the machine that
exported the report.

The new problem I've encountered is with the Crystal runtime version
install. There are a couple dll files that cannot be overwritten
because they are open. I've tried booting into safe mode but the
msvcrt.dll file still remains open. I've been told that explorer is
using it but have a couple of the installs were successful while
others weren't. I can hit the ignore button and the software will
complete but when I run the report I get a dll error. I found tech
support topics on MS and Crystal's website but neither give a
explanation of how to fix this. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Bruce
