F6 and PrintKey Lockup

The other thing is to check that you have at least SP2 installed on your W2K
workstations. I know it sounds like it shouldn't have anything to do with
it, but my F6 printing problems went away when I moved to SP2.

I had F6 print screen problems when I moved our Vantage 4.0 from a NT4.0 to
Windows 2000 server.
After removing all references to the old server name in the registry and
substituting the new server name, F6 worked as it should. Try installing 5.1
on a clean disk (one that has never had 3.0 on it) and see what happens.

Subject: [Vantage] F6 and PrintKey Lockup

Background: Vantage 5.1.130, WIN2K Pro, PrintKey 2000
Problem: We are at the "getting ready to upgrade from 3.0" stage and
have a few people starting to play around in our upgraded 5.1
database. One of the problems that has popped up is that when using
the F6 key to do a screen print in Job Tracker / Job Cost
Information, the Cost Information screen locks up after the image is
sent to the printer. Task Manager still shows Progress as running, I
can get the "Close" and "X" buttons to move and can drag the window
around, but nothing happens; I am forced to end task.
The really strange part is that if I do the same routine except
substitute the "PrtScr" key, everything works fine.
I am trying to retrain my users to avoid the F6 key, but I would
still like to fix the problem. Anybody have any ideas? Thanks.

John:

We have the exact same problem with PrintKey 2000 or TechSmith's Snagit on
our clients. And no, I have found no fix yet for it, besides telling the
users how to get around it.

Anyways, I believe the printscreen function causes some sort of a war within
the computer, and just gotta kinda deal with the problem. Not sure if I
would point my finger at Epicor and call it a bug on their side, cause I'm
not sure how many ways you can programmatically print a screen, and from my
programming knowledge, I doubt that problem could ever be fixed from
Epicor's end.

So I guess I've got nothing here to share for resolutions besides the fact
that I have the same problem.
