File Server Integration 905702

Does it matter that the File Server is also the domain control. I'm able to Enter a valid URL for a folder that exists on our Epicor1 (SQL) or Epicor2 (App Server) Servers. We tried Making a Public folder shared with Everyone with the $ sign (didn't think of this, good idea),  but still received the same error.

Looking at possibly integrating our file server with Epicor, but it appears that the folder would have to be a Public folder. I searched around on here and couldn't find much on using a file server, has anyone integrated their file server with Epicor? If so can you provide me some pointers on setting up the integration between the two? Is there somewhere I can enter credentials or something like that so I don't have to create a Public folder?

Thanks in advance,

Bobby

Integrating meaning using the document attachment ability in Epicor?

Yes. we've been using it to link to documents as a hyperlink so far, but I want to expand on that functionality.  I've been able to get everything to work using a public folder, our IT department won't allow me maintain a public folder for security reasons.

What do you mean Public Folder? If you give permissions to just the people that use Epicor that will work too... I guess I am not sure what your problem is.

Here's the error that I'm getting when entering the URL for our file server into Epicor. If I enter a URL from the server that Epicor is hosted, I get this error. Our file server is a separate server which requires domain authentication. This is where I would like to store all the attachments.

Does Epicor allow me to provide or enter credentials anywhere to make the connection?

No, Epicor just keeps links to files. Your PC must have access and file associations set up for the file type.

Make it a hidden share, add a $ to it and it won’t show up if someone views the shared folders, but people are always going to be able to access it in order to save or pull documents from it.
