On Friday, it’s EpiUsers Frideas Day! Have you been to the Epicor Ideas Portal recently? If so, are there some ideas you want to encourage other users to vote for? Maybe want to add comments to an existing idea?
Posting this one up as the first (Kinetic) Idea posted for 2025:
I’d swear there is already to place to set a universal archive period in Admin Console for on-prem. Cloud SaaS may get it soon via the coming admin portal.
Just curious, what is the scenario where users need to archive the report on a regular basis?
I dunno… not my “idea”… just posted it as the New Year’s baby (first of 2025).
But it’s a valid question.
As the classic sunset draws closer, I continue to be extremely concerned about the number of things that simply don’t work in kinetic. For example:
Design SSRS should display the error message - classic parity
MES/Datacollection cloud customers need to be able to publish more than one customization
Adjustable Column Width in Server File Download Search
We need a new way to access log files in a cloud environment.
I would vote against it for the fact that they should spend the development time on something that matters lol.
App logs can be downloaded via the “Server File Download” app, is that what you mean?
Have you personally tried doing it in the kinetic interface? Serious question.
I have, it sucks lol
I suppose if someone needed an “as of” view for historical purposes - be it a Stock Status or AR Aging or something along those lines.
Disciplined users could also download the PDF at runtime and stash it somewhere too…
More functionality we have in classic and not in kinetic:
Show context info on app studio and baq pages
I’m applaud the Epicor team for getting Kinetic where it is today compared to 2022. There are still a few gaps as you mention that I hope will be fixed before Classic sunset but I’m a little worried about the edge cases like the SSRS Design idea you linked. It’s going to be painful without the errors.
It’s going to be literally impossible. Not painful. Not difficult. Impossible.
I’d say more tedious and annoying than completely impossible. Make a change, test until it works then make the next change and repeat.
And if it fails and you have no idea why, then what?
Right now its semi-workable because when it happens, I can go to the classic report style maintenance, manually upload the files, and get the error message that way. Once classic is gone that workaround will be gone. Then what.
