I think one has merit, please vote, been kicking around since 2020âŠ
I realize it is no longer (and also not yet) Friday⊠but this idea has just been upgraded to âGauging Interestâ so I think Iâll give it a shout-out:
Fix PartBin logic so âRefresh PartBin QOH from PartTranâ program is no longer needed
You must be psychicâŠjust had to request another datafix for two orphaned PCID/PartBin recordsâŠ
No, we just covered the same topic about 3 different ways in less than a week lol.
psychotic perhaps⊠depends on the day!
I think this needs to be merged @timshuwy I am sure there are a few others like https://epicor.ideas.aha.io/ideas/KIN-I-5582
Import data from an Excel file into Kinetic Grid
Go ahead and Vote if it seems worth
I have Fridays off so I need to post in this thread after the fact.
Why the heck not.
Havenât gotten into this yet but didnât realize you couldnât already do that.
I will try posting mine again.
Allow inventory transactions on PCIDs in SOPICK status
https://epicor-manufacturing.ideas.aha.io/ideas/ERP-I-1861
I understand when a thing is picked it is intended to ship out, I meanâŠyeah.
However, UNTIL it ships out, it is still my inventory that I have control of. I canât think of a good reason I shouldnât be able to move it around.
I think this is addressed in 2024.2
Big if true!
Doesnât Paste-Insert or Past-Update exist in Kinetic grids?
It is inefficient for handling large volume of data and we cant navigate to other screens while pasting in process.
Frankly, for large amounts of data, I would prefer fixing DMTâs security model to make it a better tool so regular users can upload Excel files. I donât think the UI/Grid (Kinetic OR Classic) should be the integration point for large files. Our browsers suck up enough memory as it is, and there is extra UI processing that isnât required in a bulk upload.
Just an old manâs opinion.
Except in this case, pushing data through .NET grid components designed in 2003 2002 is the old school!
Your suggestion makes a lot of sense for optimizing performance and reducing memory usage by keeping bulk uploads out of the UI. However, Iâm unsure how this would work with future DMT versions on the web, or Kineticâs roadmapâmemory overload might still be an issue there.
The real challenge is asking users to switch interfaces for uploads. It feels like giving them a side quest they didnât ask for .(there are users who is only using web ) Iâve seen legacy systems handle uploads seamlessly, and I was hoping Kinetic could offer that same simplicity. But maybe Iâm just dreaming of a world where everything works smoothly in one place.
We are in 100% agreement here. It should be available from the UI and not from a separate utility. The import or take from Excel/CSV should be built into the BO itself. There is so much duplicate code for importing/exporting items in Kinetic. Why not standardize on a common method?
What are your users having to import? and for Peteâs sake please donât say quantity adjustments!
I understand that swapping interfaces is not an ideal situation.
If your user requirement is not already part of the numerous tools that import particular data in Kinetic already then there you could just build you own tool and use DMT CLI, wrapped in some UI that you could call from the Kinetic homepage or even use the Generic import option tool, or an Epicor Function (caveat System.IO). Electronic interfaces are another handy way if you are licenced. Of course I do appreciate that building your own tool is not for everyone.
For me DMT is just too dangerous for standard users to have carte blanche access to. It needs guard rails.
There are plenty of DMT cli solutions people have built including the PowerShell examples that are referenced.
You did pique my interest though and I was wondering how many import tools that are already in Kinetic for specific purposes so hereâs a list that I put together and they are in the Web UI, I may have missed some so feel free to pitch in.
At my current count it is 19, who would have known!
- Chart of Accounts
- GL Account Budgets
- General Ledger Journal
- Consolidation from Subsidiary
- Price Lists
- Supplier Price List
- Configurator
- Part Forecast
- Bank Statement
- Bank Payment File
- Bank Receipt File Import Express
- Labour Rate
- Assets
- Generic Imports
- EDI Demand
- E-Invoice from Avalara
- E-Invoice Status

I the time it took me to go through this there has been a large number of posts since so this post may be a totally moot point, but hey it was a useful exercise.
You could add Demand Management and the multi-company transfer program too!
