I’d forgotten all about him.

How is this idea still in “Submitted” status with over 100 likes?! Allow changing of homepage background color

And pimping mine again:
Reconcile Freight Costs to Quoted
Add LTL Accessorial fields
Add “Intermediate Consignee” Fields
QS ability to customize report datasets

How could you forget Keratin Krumbwaffle?

I hope he makes it open source

It seems his public git repos show no sign of an ERP

Someone asked me the other day if I ever thought about writing my own ERP.

I said yes, I thought that was f#%^ing nuts.

But hey, we all got here because someone was.

Here’s my post on the issue.

In short
2022.2 You could press enter on the a line in the summary after entering the qty and it would add a new empty line and it would update the order totals… No customisations or hotkeys

2023.2 You press the enter key same as above and the order total does not update. It only updates after you enter the part number on the new line and tab out, then it only totals for the previous line.

This is classic, it does not happen in the kinetic UI.
Trace on the classic it fires SO.MasterUpdate and GetNewOrderDtl in both situations… My thought is that that something changed with SO.MasterUpdate.

This is very interesting and I wonder if its at the root of an issue we have been unsuccessfully chasing for many months now where the order total is just wrong. Of course we have had no idea how to reproduce it so support won’t assist.

We need better activity tracking. The fact that activity tracking was added is fantastic, but in its current state it doesn’t give the clarity needed for the way I want to use it, which is finding out which of my ~300 users are using a classic or kinetic version of a particular screen. Can we get some votes on this? It really only helps if the improvement comes quickly (i.e. before the classic client is taken away).

One thing I would love to see is making it easier to add the print button to a menu and then add what reports can be added to that print button. I searched around and it seems so complicated to add something as simple as the print button to a menu.

Another thing that would be great is making it easier to make bartender files. Something like BAQ report designer but have it actually work with bartender instead of just SSRS reports.

This is predicated on the idea that new features are the source of bugs.
What if those bugs existed all along and they just discovered it?

We have gotten used to the idea of upgrade cycles and ERP users have also learned to live with it over the time.

What if the release cycle is shorter like every week or even daily with small number of changes? Also with ability to automatically revert in the event of an issue?

This is not a new idea and has some challenges in the ERP context for sure but if we could get there, would be a game changer for lot of people and some people will have to look for new jobs.

Feature flag is used by cloud vendors not so much for stability but mostly to do analytics on customer adoption

It seems very popular with deployment where a feature is released to a smaller base, then some analytics, maybe updates or a total rollback. Afterwards, roll out to a larger base or, as you suggest, an AB group, and continue expanding the group until you remove the flag.

There are other uses as well:

  • Restrict premium functionality to specific customer groups willing to pay higher subscription fees.
  • Stabilize a system by quickly deactivating a problem feature, avoiding the risks of a rollback or immediate hotfix.
  • Disable an optional feature with high resource consumption during peak usage periods.
  • Conduct experimental feature releases to small user segments to validate feasibility and popularity.

You know what, I just want more bartender support in general. The epicor website says it supports bartender, so why not make it easier for us to make actual bartender files that we can upload into a report style or something. I search the kinetic help and the only page for bartender is setting up a cloud server. Nothing on actually adding a bartender file to the reports, or how to connect the database to the bartender file itself.

A bit of an unhinged rant there but I am just frustrated that there isn’t a simpler way to do this bartender stuff.

BTW, Epicor does have the basis of a Feature Flag system already. There’s is no way to create your own through the API. It would make a good widget if we wanted to conditionally control our functions and directives.
