I’ve noticed more and more duplicate ideas getting created lately - it’s frustrating because there may be the same idea out there from literally 2 or 3 years ago, with a few dozen votes, but then somebody creates the same idea all over again and it gets a handful more votes.
The ideas portal is desperately in need of proper grooming. The more duplicates are created, the harder it gets to find existing ideas and vote for them (although I am not positive everyone even attempts to do this), which causes even more duplicates to get created. I have even posted the link of the duplicate idea in the comments several times and nothing is done to clean up the duplication.
Another different but related problem, a lot of times ideas are created, and the functionality that somebody wants actually already exists in the product. Then eventually somebody will come along and explain where to find or how to use that functionality, often after the idea has already be gauging interest for some time. It would be nice if there was a faster avenue to find out what functionality exists before creating an idea. Even when entering a support case, support is very very quick to post their template response telling you to create an Idea, rather than providing the information on how it already works. I won’t go into the shortcomings of the documentation, it will always be the case that not everything is or can be documented.
