From Warehouse on Sales Order

Hello,
We have a custom “shipping dispatch” we use that plays off of the warehouse on the sales order release screen. We have 2 warehouses under the same site, and they both have their own shipping areas so we try to separate them by having the sales people specify which warehouse it should ship from.
However, when the release is entered as make direct the warehouse is grayed out. I was trying to do some more reading on this functionality on how we can make this work for us and stumbled up on this on application help:
“Some releases that are marked as Make Direct may have a warehouse selected as well. This is because the order release is linked to a job that will have a portion of its quantity pulled from a warehouse”
I really haven’t been able to figure out what this means, I have tried jobs that have all materials pulled from the same warehouse, from both warehouses etc. and the warehouse is grayed out every time.

Does anyone know how to control this warehouse feature on the sales order release?

Thanks.

It is likely referring to the “Pull Qty” in Job Entry. You can enter a qty here if you have some in stock and it will reduce the material requirements and job operations by that qty factor.

@MDiekhuis That is only for using some finished assemblies and making the rest. You can make the job to stock and auto receive it into stock and bypass make direct or add a field for the shipping area to use instead of the order warehouse.

Thanks for the insight, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that but I guess we’ll have to explore other options.
