Fully Shipped Releases not Closing

Good morning,
I am trying to figure out a strange issue we are having. It is not a big deal, but occasionally we have sales order releases that get fully shipped, but the release remains open with 0 remaining quantity. We set our releases to make direct. No one has been able to figure out why sometimes a release stays open after it has been selected to fulfill a shipment.

I am thinking about writing a little routine to check for and close these releases every day if they exist. I don’t expect any issue from this idea. What do you all think? Is this a bad idea? Can you think of any reason those release would stay open even though we shipped them completely?
Thanks!
Nate

I believe it is one of two things. It is either because you short shipped the release and completed the release on another pack. Or it may be due to shipping, unshipping, then shipping again. It’s been a while since I tested this out and can’t remember exactly what causes it to happen.

I see no issue in creating something to close them out.

@NateS It happens from time to time. I am with @jkane that I see no issue with marking them closed. We had a debate in our office recently that his would cause over ships and I proved that the quantity shipped was the key factor, not open or closed.

We have a dashboard our Sales Team uses periodically to check for these releases. We decided to have them manually close each one so that they can double check that everything was shipped and billed correctly and that the order wasn’t manually reopened or left open for any “real” reason. We had a couple of hundred of these releases when we first pulled the list, but now we only have maybe one or two a week that needs to be manually closed.
