GL Account Maintenance Description issue

One is not the same as the others. Accounting is adding a new GL account number and the description in General Ledger Account Maintenance is not displaying and saving correctly. Anyone know why and how to fix it?

Adding other new accounts are fine, just this one seems to save incorrectly. We are on 10.2.200.10

You should be allowed to modify the description. Most description fields in Epicor can be changed. I just checked ours and I could modify the description if needed; but we are on 10.2.300.8 (I would think you still could)

Have you checked the GL Segment descriptions?

The GL accounts will default with EPICOR default of your dept or divisions segments included. In the GL set up you can check the Override Default Desc and that will get you what you need to fix it.

What happens is that when we first add the GL Account the description is incorrect showing AMES.DSOF. Office Suppliers. So we override the description to correctly say Office Supplies.AMES.DSOF.

I verify in GLAccount table in SQL description is correct.

Add new GL Account to Financial Report designer. Had some trouble getting the correct description to show got passed that now.

Problem left is that GL Account is not showing on Financial Reports after it has been added to FRD setup.

Does it appear as missing on the FRD syntax check?

And how was it added, as a specific account or as a category?

It was added as a specific account to an already existing category.

I meant in the Financial Report Designer.

Edit:

So in your FRD, you specify rows by Category. Do other GL Accts in that category show on the report?

Yes they do. Just this one is jumbled in the company.department.account format and not showing in the group. Strange behavior for sure.

Trying to recall … you currently have 2 problems, right?

  1. This one GL account name is structured differently than the others.
  2. That same GL account does not show on the Financial Report.

For #2, have you tried adding adding a row for this account, using the chart, div, and dept. Just to see if it shows that way.
