Sounds like what I want to do.

I want to create an email that is sent to Person(s) on the Job
notifying what material just received.

Is a BAM activated as soon as the "Rules Validated" turns green? Is a
better/another source of help than Vantage Help?

Thanks

I have the Global Alert that notifies me when material is received
active.

Problems: The global alert (email) doesn't tell me what was received.
Is there a way to included the description of the material received?

When I double-click on the attachment, what is it supposed to do? I
receive a Launch Error Message: The network path was not found.

Can someone point me in the right direction?

Clinton,

A couple of things to bear in mind / try.

The person who receives the email which contains a *.vdl file
attachment, must have internet explorer installed on their workstation,
and must have a vantage session open. If these are true, doubleclicking
the vdl file will open up a window in Vantage, with the corresponding
information the Global Alert is about . Please note, on my computer,
this window doesn't pop to the front automatically, you need to click
onto the vantage program box in your toolbar for it to show.

If this doesn't cure it, the file association may be wrongly setup for
the .vdl file. In Windows explorer click the top menu item : Tools >>
Folder Options >> File Types.

Search through the list for VDL. It should be there as a Vantage Direct
Link File, which opens with the program VantageEMailLink.

The location of my program is as follows : V:\mfgsys61\DLL\
VantageEMailLink.exe

Hope this helps.

I submitted a call to Vantage support this morning. I will keep you
updated.

I looked for files that Stuart mentions. I couldn't find them.

You can add a call to a simple program which will reference the record
making it much easier to identify what the alert is for. We began
adding these specifically for our users who access Vantage via Citrix.
For example, here is a program that will append a part number to the
email subject line. Save this as a .p file and reference it in the
"alert program" line.

{ud/GlbAlert.i &TableName = "Part"}

ASSIGN Email-Subject = Email-Subject + " (" + MfgSys.Part.PartNum + ")".

Revision to last email.

Should have mentioned that I created a BAM that mimicked the
functionality of a specific Global Alert.

Being new to Vantage and still implementing. Is there easy BAM to
create that works?

I'm trying to create a BAM for the first time. It "tests" fine, but
I'm unclear on my next step to make sure it really works. Is a BAM
alive once the "test" button turns green?

I've looked under links for samples, but still no luck on making a
BAM work.

Thanks and any assistance would be appreciated.

We are in the process of implementing Vantage 8.03. This issue with
global alerts has been there since the product was installed by the
systems group.

I reported the global alert error message "Network path not found" to
support. They responded by stating that they do not support these types
of issues and referred me to Donna Barnett's group. Donna is currently
investigating who IS responsible for support on this issue. Preliminary
findings are pointing back to the APM module setup at the time of the
install.

I will advise as I have more information.
