Global Part in Multi-Site configuration

Does the Global setting in Part maintenance differ when using multi-site vs multi-company? The help only talks about its functionality with respect to multi-company.

We’re setup as multi-site (5 sites), but use the same exact parts in every site.

It’s a pain to have to add each of the other 4 sites sites when entering a new part. Would making a part “Global” automatically add all the other sites?

And if a part is made Global, can that be changed later (like after part trans happen against it)?

We use both. Global only works with company. Site, you have to add the sites to the part and they will be allowed to use there. We created a BPM to add all sites/warehouses to parts when they are added new to make sure that items could go anywhere. That does mean that the default settings show up everywhere so if you need to make changes, then you would have to define that as a company (transfer, purchased or manufactured).
