Going live Blank Title 58530

Thanks, Chuck. Did you find any errors down the road after you went
live? I am guessing there is no great way to do this :-)

Live date - we entered in both systems. Once cut-over came - we
entered "cut-over" materials, etc and applied the costs to that. It
was fairly smooth over all but you have to make sure everyone is on
their toes on paying attention.

Hello,

We are wondering how Vantage users go-live--is it possible/advisable to
run your existing system parallel to Vantage so that all data going in
to Vantage is clean (the tabula rasa approach) or do you have to
manually force existing jobs that are currently housed in the old
system into Vantage? Our preference would be to leave our old system
up until all of the jobs are complete but not sure what if any the
ramifications would be. How has anyone else handled this situation?
Thanks!

Hi Diane,

Are you upgrading from another version of Vantage or another software
program?

Hi Dave,

Thanks for your response. We are going live with Vantage 8.03 for
the first time. Current system is HP (dos based).

Depends...one way is dual entry...and if you have a lot of work people
will complain sooner or later, or they can forget to put it in one
system vs the other. That can be a nightmare as well.

The other way is to find the cost on the jobs the end of Friday before
cutover. Take those costs and apply it to a dummy op and then continue
with the last op from the old system when you are live. If you have a
consultant, they can explain the exact procedure for this and then you
do not have to deal with double entry and those dreaded mistakes that
can happen.

thanks so much. Before reading your reply I was thinking dual entry
would be the way to go--now I'm not so sure. I definitely imagine a
nightmare scenario with folks forgetting to input jobs, etc. Thanks,
again!

We did both. We did dual entry - we determined a ship date that orders would not have to be entered into the old system going from our Live date and any orders that would still be produced before our Live date - we entered in both systems. Once cut-over came - we entered "cut-over" materials, etc and applied the costs to that. It was fairly smooth over all but you have to make sure everyone is on their toes on paying attention.

All I can say is whatever you decide to do, make sure you have a decent
plan in place...and see if can figure out ways to correct issues ahead
of time. Granted you will not foresee all issues that can come up, but
then that is when a test environment is used to test out the crazy
stuff.

A month before the launch, we took the real transactions from the day and
tried to enter them into the test environment. It does show those little
things that you didn't expect.
