I have an open call with Support and I saw the same issue on 10.1.500.16, now on 10.1.600.22
When I enter a complete PN in the search, I expect it to be the first on my list. On certain PNs this is what I see.
As you can see on the second image (e9.702a) it is working as expected.
Anyone seeing this?
Here is a suggestion from support, but my default is set to StringSort
Here is a suggestion from support, but my default is set to StringSort
Good afternoon Miguel,
There are two types of sort options available.
StringSort- This setting is the Epicor default and in the String Sort algorithm all characters are given an equal “weight” for sort positioning.
WordSort- This setting is the Microsoft default and in the Word Sort algorithm some specialty characters are given almost no “weight” in the sort positioning. The Hyphen (-) is the most visible of these specialty characters.
What does this look like in practice? Screenshot below taken from an excellent Insights presentation on Epicor internals by our framework development team.

If you wish to use wordSort as the default but still keep the stringSort for part numbers you can right-click on your Epicor Shortcut and select Open File Location. Open the Config folder. Edit the first .sysconfig file and change the highlighted. Save your changes. Repeat for every other .sysconfig on your machine for every other environment you have.
