Help with WARRANTY claim management

That's a common issue, especially among service companies.

It's not uncommon to see people go with a third party product or have
IT/consultants gin up something custom.

If you don't need anything too strenuous, you could wire a UD table up to
the SerialNumber table and use it to track the history. You could also use
the Case Entry system to do this as well; I've seen a few people do this to
varying degrees of success.

It really depends whether you want a larger more sophisticated tracking
system (and the data entry work it entails) or you want more of a quick and
dirty 'just enter some notes and a partnumber' setup.

Unlike some manufacturers, who replace complete products when warranty claims are made, and validated, we replace non-serialized component-parts of serialized finished goods, and it's important for us to track, and have visibility of, the warranty-claim history of multiple serialized FG's at a particular location.
We're in the commercial laundry equipment business, and we sell washers and dryers to laundromats.
I'd be grateful to hear ideas from anyone who has tackled a similar product-history-tracking challenge in their implementation.
Thanks!
