Hotfix KNTC-23451 - Fixing Layer Traversing Issues and some Refresh issues

This hotfix was just released and part of our ongoing ticket(s) with Epicor related to Widgets, Screens, Custom Layers, and refreshing in Kinetic (Available now at Epicweb). We will be testing it out this week in a non-production environment. In our ticket, they stated that this would be integrated into the .14 update.

If this actually fixes our widget issue and others related to ignoring the custom layer (at random) this will go a long way to providing user relief… TBD, but I’m excited for it and their relatively quick response for such a large organization. We first noted this problem with Epicor on August 14th.

Keep generating your tickets and Epicor Ideas!

We applied the fix to our non-production environment. The Widget issue has been fixed. The issues with the card refresh are still a problem.

The only consistent way to stop a “loading circle of death” that we have found, interestingly, is to minimize the card (on the page) and then make it open again - this works every time consistently (1 out of 10 times) - the refresh grid, or button refresh does not work (or even page refresh does not work consistently). Is there any way to trigger a card to open and close at page load? This could be a band-aid for us, but we haven’t seen how we could program it… I’m continuing to work on this ticket with Epicor.

I’m seeing more and more hotfixes as of late. I thought those days were left behind on 9. 5 so far just for 2024.1

Haha. I’ve said that Epicor Kinetic is the modern-day Windows 95 “Beta…” But, it is getting better!

Welcome to modern software, it’s not exclusive.

Everything is perpetual beta.

Vendors should take a page out of Southwest’s book. They were not impacted by Crowdstrike. Windows 3.1 babyyyy!

While safe from Crowdstrike, their IT technical debt has led to a lot of travel disruptions over the past year or two.

Disruption has probably been front of mind for many Southwest executives in 2023 following volumes of cancellations in late 2022 during a multi-day winter storm and costing the airline more than a billion dollars.
